A better way to install your pergola

Less digging. Less disruption. One cleaner installation.

Rather than simply passing on the cost of traditional concrete foundations, we have been developing a ground-screw installation method for the Saxun P-150 — with one objective: a cleaner installation and a lower total cost.

No large concrete pads

Designed to avoid excavating substantial holes in lawns, borders and finished areas wherever ground conditions permit.

No curing delay

Ground screws can support the structure immediately once correctly installed and approved — removing the concrete curing stage.

Target: one installation visit

Foundations, mounting system and pergola erection can potentially be completed as one coordinated installation.

Why we're changing the method

The traditional route adds labour before the pergola even goes up.

The Soller / Proff approach

Twin structural ground screws beneath each front post.

The concept under development uses two structural ground screws beneath each front P-150 column, connected by a purpose-made steel bridge. The original Saxun column base then fixes to the bridge — retaining the manufacturer's post and levelling arrangement.

Why we've taken a little longer to finalise the installation figure. We could have quoted the conventional method immediately. Instead, we've been working on the foundation detail so that we can reduce unnecessary labour, additional visits and disruption rather than pass those costs on to you.

No conventional concrete pads to mix, pour and protect while curing where the ground-screw method is suitable.

Immediate structural connection

The steel mounting bridge can be fixed to the installed screws and used as the interface for the pergola base.

Designed as a repeatable system

We're working with the manufacturer and foundation specialists so this becomes a properly defined installation method, not an improvised site solution.

Current position

Target complete installation: no more than £1,500.

We are finalising the structural foundation specification using the P-150 column loads. Our aim is to keep the complete installation within this figure while delivering the cleaner ground-screw method wherever site and ground conditions allow.

If site conditions or structural calculations require a materially different foundation solution, this would be discussed before any installation work proceeds.
